Creamy Cashew Cardamom Smoothie

A creamy, cashew, cardamom smoothie that’s sweet, smooth and decadent!

creamy cashew cardamom smoothie with myheartbeets.com

This drink is dessert-like – almost like drinking melted ice cream. The cashews and almond milk add creaminess, the frozen banana makes the drink nice and cold, and when you add in some freshly ground cardamom – it becomes over-the-top delicious.

You only need 4 ingredients to make this drink:

  • cashews
  • almond milk
  • a frozen banana
  • freshly ground cardamom seeds.

When it comes to desserts and smoothies, I highly suggest freshly grinding cardamom because the flavor is so prominent. Pre-ground cardamom just isn’t as flavorful. That’s not as much of an issue when it comes to curries because the spice tends to take more of a backseat, adding just a touch of flavor.

I think cardamom is my favorite spice, especially when it comes to sweets. Here are some of my other recipes starring cardamom:

Enjoy this creamy, cardamom-spiced drink and let me know how much you love it! 🙂

Oh my gosh, this was fabulous! I’d have never thought of adding cardamom to my smoothies, so I’m glad I tried this! I modified a bit using cashew milk, 1/4 cup cashews instead of 1/3, and adding a scoop of vanilla protein powder. Love it!

  1. […] Cardamom is my favorite spice. I use it in everything sweet and savory. It has a warm, floral-like flavor and is very aromatic. I always buy cardamom pods and remove the seeds myself, because the powdered cardamom that you get in stores just isn’t as flavorful.
