Ingredients
 

  • 1 pound split peas
  • 1 meaty ham bone + leftover diced ham for garnish
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 3 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ½ serrano minced, optional
  • 2 bay leaves
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 7 cups water or broth
  • Salt adjust to taste

Instructions
 

  • Add all of the ingredients to the pot.
  • Secure the lid, close the pressure valve and cook for 15 minutes at high pressure.
  • Naturally release pressure for 15 minutes.
  • Adjust salt to taste.
  • Optional: Fry any leftover diced ham in a sauté pan and use as garnish.
